About

The original quality mini-chips (25x4mm size, 6.65g) were discontinued more than a decade ago - see here for context -.

At the start of 2024, seeing as noone was willing to take chances to produce similar mini-chips, I (Rubén from sunny Spain) decided to look for and contact different manufacturers.

In that two-month process I checked ABS and ceramic chip samples from 6-7 manufacturers (22x2.5mm, 1.8g mini-chips as well as standard 39-40x3.3mm, 10-12g ones), after which I ordered the creation of a new ceramic mold. To reach the desired weight, we had to compromise on the size a bit (ideally IMO they'd be 25-26mm). After a month the mold was ready, and the printed samples I received completely blew my mind: the quality of ceramic chips, but less slippery!

April was spent working with the chip factory and the BGG community to finalise the "chains" and "rails" designs. The first production run was completed in early June. In parallel, Tiago from Portugal developed the new "hex" design, which was joined by the "sleek" undenominated design by Heiko from Germany as part of the second print run.

I received the shipment for the first print run of 73,300 chains/rails chips in August 2024. The second one was for 144,600 chips in December 2024 and included all current designs.

All orders are shipped from Madrid, Spain, at least for now. I will try to have fixed sets (e.g. 100, 200 and 400 chips with popular denominations) shipped from fullfillment centers at key locations such as China and the US.

In summary, this is a passion and community-driven project with a clear goal: to bring the only quality mini-chips to as many people as possible.
